Appliances occupy most of our electric bills. Although, I know this is an obvious fact and I didn't know that I could still save more energy and less electrical bills if I choose the right appliances to buy. I took for granted the idea that appliances eat a lot of electrical energy, cost a lot, and that I couldn't do anything about it. Usually, when I shop I just look at the brand names and the physical appearance not knowing that each appliance is designed to lessen or further increase your nightmare bills.
Accordingly, it is better to buy a
useful microwave oven with a window and those with convection types because they can save more energy. Microwave oven windows are energy-saving because you do not have to open the oven door just to peek whether the food is cooked or not. Constant opening of oven doors will further waste energy. On the other hand, when you're buying a dishwasher, you must not only check for the brand, but you must look if it has energy star label since it uses less water and energy.
If you're eyeing a new refrigerator, buy only the suitable size for your
house plan. The larger the refrigerator the more energy it accumulates. Check also at the back, if it has an energy star label. In this way, you can know if the appliance eats up a lot of energy or not. It is also advisable for you to buy a washing machine that has different modes of washing cycles and that the water temperatures are easy to adjust.
The bottom line is, when you buy appliances, you must examine first its use for you and how it can save you from the burden of high cost electric energy.
